Rest in Paradise Lapu Lapu Memorial Tee

$25.00
sold out

Inspired by vintage Philippines tourism tee designs, this hand drawn graphic by local Toronto artist Lia Lepre, features the Filipino national flower; Jasmine Sambac. Drawn with symbolic nods to our national flag; 3 flowers representing the 3 stars & the main regions of our country . The middle flower is drawn with 8 petals representing the 8 rays of the sun on our flag which also represent the initial 8 states that fought for Filipino sovereignty from the Spanish colony. The poem featured on the shirt is an excerpt from Jose Rizal's 'Mi Ultimo Adios', his last poem before his execution:

If on my grave a delicate flower grows, on the lush grass

Please apply it to your lips, give my soul a kiss

And may my forehead feel, on the cold earth of my grave

The warmth of your pure embrace and the breeze of your true love

-Jose Rizal
